NO FCRA USE. Columbus County Court Docket is privately operated and has no affiliation with a government body or court. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site and any advertising partner services are not offered for credit, employment, tenant-screening, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision. The site provides public-reference information about Columbus County, North Carolina court-record channels, not investigative or consumer-reporting services.
1. What This Website Is
This is a private reference site with no connection to a court or government office. It does not store official dockets or court records, retrieve a file for a visitor, alter a court date, or file a document.
Its purpose is to identify the official Columbus County channels: the Clerk of Superior Court, which keeps county trial-court records, the Superior and District Court divisions, and the North Carolina eCourts Portal. A public Portal Case Summary is useful for research, but it is not the clerk's official record and it is not an e-filing screen. eCourts File & Serve is the separate filing system.
2. Informational Use Only
Site materials are general information, not an official docket, a court order, or legal advice. G.S. 7A-109 assigns the clerk record, file, docket, and index duties, while G.S. 132-1 supplies North Carolina's broad public-records baseline subject to other laws. Verify a material record, hearing, or rule with the Clerk of Superior Court or the court that controls the case.
3. Rules for Using This Site
You agree that you will not:
- Use the site in violation of federal, state, or local law
- Use site information to harass, stalk, or threaten another person
- Use site content for a credit, employment, housing, lending, or insurance decision
- Attempt to obtain unauthorized access to site systems
- Run bots, scrapers, or similar automated tools against site pages
- Interfere with site availability or another visitor's use
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not create consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. A visitor must not use information from this site or a linked tool to:
- Make a hiring, retention, or employment decision
- Evaluate a renter, tenant, or housing applicant
- Assess creditworthiness or set insurance eligibility or premiums
- Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
- Perform another purpose regulated by the FCRA
Any FCRA-regulated use must be handled through a provider authorized for that purpose, not through this site.
5. No Legal Advice
Nothing here is legal advice. The site cannot determine how a Columbus County case, charge, deadline, or order applies to a visitor. Consult a licensed North Carolina attorney for advice about a particular matter.
6. Accuracy Is Not Guaranteed
Site information is provided "as is." No guarantee is made that:
- Information is accurate, complete, or current at every moment
- The site will remain available without interruption
- Pages will be free of every error, bug, or security vulnerability
- Results from a partner tool will be complete or accurate
Court information can change as filings occur, hearings move, cases are dismissed, or access changes. Some records are restricted by law. G.S. 1-72.1 provides the procedure for sealing or restricting judicial records and proceedings, and G.S. 7B-3000 protects juvenile records from ordinary public inspection. Nothing on this site is an official statement by a court or clerk. Confirm a docket entry or court date with the office that maintains it.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
The site links to clerk pages, trial-court resources, statewide search tools, legal-aid resources, and outside services. A link opens a service outside this site. Columbus County Court Docket does not control its content, prices, privacy practices, terms, or availability. Review the destination's terms before using it.
8. Intellectual Property
Text, graphics, logos, and code on this site belong to Columbus County Court Docket or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, modified, or used to make derivative work without prior written permission.
9. Limits on Our Liability
To the extent North Carolina law permits, Columbus County Court Docket is not liable for damages arising from use of this site or a decision based on its information or a linked service.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the site operator harmless from claims, actions, or demands arising from your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related reasonable legal costs.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in North Carolina.
12. Changes to These Terms
These terms may be revised at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you look up a case or docket for me?
No. This private reference site has no access to the official docketing system. A visitor may use the Docket Search route or contact the Columbus County Clerk of Superior Court.
Can you change or confirm my court date?
No. Only the court can set, reset, or confirm a hearing. Check the Court Schedule resources and verify the date with the clerk or court office.
Is a docket entry on a linked tool official?
No. A linked tool can be incomplete or out of date. The Columbus Clerk of Superior Court keeps the official county court record; the Portal itself says it is not the official record.
